“Ever heard of a school that rose from the ashes of others? That is the story of Kyoto City Third Kinrin Elementary School. Let’s delve into the tale of this public elementary school in Sakyo Ward Kyoto.

Kyoto City Third Kinrin Elementary School’s story begins in 1923. It was November 1st to be exact. This was during the Taisho era. It emerged from a split of Kinrin Elementary School and Second Kinrin Elementary School.

Originally it was known as Third Kinrin Elementary School. Then in 1925 a higher elementary course was added. This led to a name change. It became Third Kinrin Jinjo Higher Elementary School.

The winds of change blew again in 1941. Due to national policies, the school’s name changed. It was now Kyoto City Third Kinrin National School.

Post World War II in 1947 educational reforms swept Japan. As a result the school adopted its current name. It became Kyoto City Third Kinrin Elementary School.

In 1948 another significant event occurred. Second Kinrin Elementary School closed. Its district was divided. It was split between Kinrin Elementary School. Third Kinrin Elementary School and Haruhi Elementary School all gained parts.

A school song was established in February 1954. The school continues to educate children.

The school is located at 6 Miyanocho. It sits in Sakyo Ward Kyoto. The area is known as Kaguragaoka.

Its location places it in the Kinrin Higashiyama and Shorakuhoku school districts. However, parts of Ginkakujimae Town are excluded. The same is true for Marutamachi Kamogawa Nishida Town. Portions of Yoshida Kamiyoshida Town and Nanzenji Kusakawa Town are also excluded.

Basically graduates of Kyoto City Third Kinrin Elementary School proceed to Okazaki Junior High School.”
