“Ever notice how some buildings seem to tell a story without saying a word?” That’s Sainte-Colette for you. Sainte-Colette is located in Montreal-Nord. This church has witnessed significant moments in the community’s history.

Sainte-Colette Parish was canonically erected on July 11 1960. Construction of the Sainte-Colette church took place from 1965 to 1967. The parish is on Sainte-Colette street. The address is 11931 rue Sainte-Colette.

Let’s rewind a bit. The area that Sainte-Colette now calls home has an interesting past. Once part of La Visitation du Sault-au-Récollet. It later became Montreal-Nord in 1915. Montreal-Nord was annexed to Montreal in 2002.

The architecture of Sainte-Colette reflects changes in the Roman Catholic Church. Vatican 2 influenced the design. This council modernized the Church between 1962 and 1965. The liturgy changed. New church construction offered different spaces for faith celebrations. New construction materials made these changes possible.

Sainte-Colette offers masses in French. Masses are held on Saturdays at 4:30 PM. Sunday masses take place at 8:30 AM and 11:00 AM. Weekday masses are on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday at 8:30 AM. Sainte-Colette celebrates special occasions. Holy Week and Easter have special mass times.

Consider the population changes Sainte-Colette has seen. Montreal-Nord had only 624 residents in 1911. By 1976, it had grown to 97250. Sainte-Colette has been a constant.

Today Sainte-Colette stands as more than bricks and mortar. It is a symbol of faith. It is a testament to community evolution. It’s a place where history and spirituality intertwine. Sainte-Colette welcomes all.
