Opened in 1971, Ibaraki City Mizuo Elementary School stands as a testament to community growth and educational dedication. This school, right here before us, arose from a need to address overcrowding at the nearby Ibaraki City Tamade Elementary School. The initial location of Mizuo Elementary was a temporary prefab structure at 238 Masago, Ibaraki City. This was also the site of the Ibaraki City Midori Youth Center. Just a year later, in March 1972, the school moved to its current location. The new building was officially completed on April 14, 1972, a date now celebrated as the school’s foundation day. The school song, composed by Osamu Otaka with lyrics written by the students themselves, was introduced just a year later on February 24, 1973. Imagine the pride those students felt, their words forever echoing through the halls of Mizuo Elementary. Ibaraki City Mizuo Elementary School serves the children of Mizuo 1-chome, parts of Mizuo 2 and 3-chome, Mizuo 4-chome, Wakaba-cho, and sections of Masago 2-chome, Yoshiwara-cho, and Tamayura-cho. The school isn’t just bricks and mortar. It is a vibrant hub, nurturing young minds and fostering a sense of community. It is a place where memories are made and futures are shaped, right here at Ibaraki City Mizuo Elementary School.
