“What if I told you that this bustling hub was once just a vision?” Here at Marina Plaza, we are surrounded by a testament to Dubai’s ambition and innovation. This area known as Dubai Marina is often called “Manhattan” of Dubai. It stands as one of the most prestigious places to live and explore in Dubai.
Dubai Marina, or Marsa Dubai in Arabic, is built around a human-made canal. It stretches three kilometers along the Persian Gulf shoreline. The inspiration for Dubai Marina came from Concord Pacific Place in Vancouver, Canada. The waters of the Persian Gulf were brought here to create a new waterfront. This ambitious project has transformed the landscape, creating a vibrant community.
The marina can accommodate over 120,000 people. It sits strategically between Jebel Ali Port and areas like Dubai Internet City and Dubai Media City. This location makes Marina Plaza a central point in Dubai’s modern infrastructure.
More than 12% of the total land area is dedicated to public space. This includes almost eight kilometers of landscaped walkways. These paths invite residents and tourists alike to enjoy leisurely strolls. You can relax by the water.
Emaar Properties, a real estate development firm, designed the marina. They ensured there’s a publicly accessible foreshore-way around the marina. Some sections offer ocean views towards Palm Jumeirah.
In October 2013, Dubai Marina opened its first mosque named Masjid Al Rahim. It sits at the southern end of the marina. Later, in December 2016, the Mohammed Bin Ahmed Almulla Mosque opened.
The first phase of Dubai Marina included six freehold apartment buildings known as the Dubai Marina Towers. The towers got their names from precious stones and Arabic scents. Al Mass, Fairooz, and Murjan are named after precious stones. Mesk, Anbar, and Al Yass are named after Arabic scents.
Dubai Marina Mall is a shopping mall at the center of Dubai Marina. It features 140 retail outlets. The mall opened in December 2008. It is connected to the 5-star JW Marriott Hotel Marina.
Getting around Dubai Marina is easy. Sobha Realty, formerly Dubai Marina, is a metro station on the Red Line of the Dubai Metro. Also, the Al Sufouh Tram runs through Dubai Marina. It connects to the Dubai Metro and the Palm Monorail.
For thrill-seekers, there’s even a zipline that links Dubai Marina with the Dubai Marina Mall. The take-off platform is 170 meters above ground. Riders can reach speeds of 80 kilometers per hour on the XLine.
The Dubai Marina Walk is another major attraction along the shoreline. Yacht tours are readily available. For a bird’s-eye view, Skydive Dubai offers skydivers stunning views of Palm Jumeirah.
As you explore Marina Plaza and Dubai Marina, remember that it is more than just a collection of buildings. It is a symbol of Dubai’s bold vision and its commitment to creating extraordinary spaces for people to live, work, and play. It’s a place where modern luxury meets traditional Arabian hospitality.
