On Leap Day of 2008, something rebellious was brewing in Ramona, California. The Rebel Ranch Vineyards was established, a testament to a family’s adventurous spirit. Michael and Marla Fryman, the husband and wife team behind Rebel Ranch Vineyards, weren’t just planting vines, they were cultivating a dream. Rebel Ranch Vineyards wasn’t an overnight sensation. The vines themselves weren’t planted until 2016, eight years after the ranch’s founding. Petite Sirah and Sangiovese grapes now flourish across approximately 1.5 acres, soaking up the Ramona Valley sun. The Frymans’ dedication to their craft has earned them international acclaim. In 2023, their 2018 50/50 blend of Petite Sirah and Sangiovese was awarded the prestigious Lum Eisenman Best in Show Award at the Ramona Valley Vineyard Association Wine Competition. This blend, described by judges as having the aroma of strawberries and oak, is a testament to their winemaking prowess. Another accolade came in 2020, when Rebel Ranch Vineyards tied for Best Estate Wine at the American Wine Society Wine Competition. Multiple Double Gold and Honorable Mentions further solidify their reputation. Rebel Ranch Vineyards remains a family affair. Their grandchildren participate in every step, from harvest to bottling. This shared passion binds the generations together, creating a legacy that extends beyond the vineyard. While not yet open to the public, the Frymans eagerly anticipate the day they can welcome visitors to their boutique winery. Until then, they invite you to follow their journey on Instagram and Facebook by searching for “@RebelRanchVineyards”. The story of Rebel Ranch Vineyards is one of passion, perseverance, and family. It’s a reminder that sometimes, the greatest adventures begin with a rebellious spirit and a dream.
