“A place of rest” might be your first thought. But Nghĩa trang Giáo xứ Lộ Đức is more than just a cemetery. It is a testament to faith charity and community.

Welcome to Nghĩa trang Giáo xứ Lộ Đức. This is a place with a history deeply intertwined with the Catholic community of Biên Hòa. The story of Nghĩa trang Giáo xứ Lộ Đức begins with the story of Giáo xứ Lộ Đức itself.

In 1954 Father Mai Đức Cận led 700 Catholics from Thái Bình province. They settled in the Hố Nai area of Biên Hòa. This community became known as họ Tràng Quan. At first they were part of Văn Côi parish. They built a temporary house to worship. In 1966 they rebuilt it.

Later that year Bishop Lê Văn Ấn officially created Giáo xứ Lộ Đức. He appointed Father Phạm Hưng Thi as the first pastor. In 1971 Father Thi and the community began building a church. It measured 18 meters by 50 meters. That same year Father Nguyễn Vinh Thiên replaced Father Thi.

Over the years the parish grew. It built a bell tower and parish house in 1991. A cultural center followed in 1994. A pastoral house was built in 2013. By 2017 Giáo xứ Lộ Đức celebrated its 50th anniversary. The parish had grown from 700 to over 11000 official members. About 7000 more migrants also joined.

Today Nghĩa trang Giáo xứ Lộ Đức reflects the growth. It is a final resting place for many members of this vibrant community.

Lộ Đức has always been more than just a place of worship. It actively builds community through connection. The church organizes sports events. These events help people from different regions connect. They also host food stalls during festivals. These events provide a chance for fellowship.

The parish also has a strong focus on charity. They run a Caritas food stall. It offers affordable meals to those in need. They provide rice to struggling families. Scholarships support poor children. They build homes for the poor and provide health insurance.

Nghĩa trang Giáo xứ Lộ Đức is a place where faith charity and community come together. It is more than just a burial ground. Nghĩa trang Giáo xứ Lộ Đức represents the enduring spirit of a community. It is a community that has overcome challenges and grown. It’s a community that continues to support each other. It’s a community that embodies the values of compassion and faith.
