Doug and Roberta Moore are the American founders of this ministry. Since 1998 they have served in Romania. They oversee the River of Life Humanitarian Foundation. The foundation helps vulnerable people. This includes at-risk pregnant women, needy elderly people, and abandoned children.
The ministry shares the Gospel. They offer tangible help. This can lead to transformed lives. River of Life provides care through its homes. There is the River of Life Care Home. It supports pregnant teens and women. They can keep their babies instead of facing abortion or abandonment.
Many women have no other options. They often come from backgrounds of abuse. They lack family support and education. The care home offers them a chance for a better life.
“Maria” House is another care home. It serves needy elderly Romanian women. Two experienced mothers live there with their children. They care for the elderly women. This provides meaningful work for the mothers.
River of Life also runs “Emanuel” Children’s Foster Care Home. This home provides a safe Christian environment. It is for children under court protection. This home offers stability and hope.
The church is involved in community outreaches. They host programs for women and children. They distribute clothes to needy people. Around 400 gift packages are given out each Christmas. An elderly day program is hosted weekly.
Many people have volunteered at River of Life. They come from all over the world. They help with construction and care home activities. The church offers unique mission experiences. These are tailored to the team’s interests and abilities.
River of Life’s work depends on donations. Most of the support comes from individual donors. These donations fund various needs. There are accounts for care home expenses. There are also accounts for heating and maintenance. One account supports the children’s education.
