“Looking for tech help with medical studies?” That’s the unspoken question hanging in the air around MeDocs here at the University of Muenster. MeDocs is not your typical institution. It’s a student-led initiative. It helps to boost digitalization skills at the Faculty of Medicine here at the University of Muenster.

A few years ago, some bright students saw a need. They wanted to improve e-learning from a student’s perspective. Thus, MeDocs was born. Sarah Geissler, Lars Schwarz and Maurice Dellin lead the team. Dr Helmut Ahrens from IfAS mentors them. They work on projects covering all medical fields.

MeDocs tackles diverse tasks. Students input data. They collaborate on new learning modules. MeDocs offers opportunities for everyone. You do not need an IT degree to join. Even those with programming skills are welcome. The team improves student learning.

One key group within MeDocs is the Semesteradmins. They optimize lecture flow. Medical studies often involve external lecturers. These lecturers may struggle with the university’s tech. Semesteradmins are trained students. They sit in lectures and solve tech issues quickly. This saves valuable lecture time. Semesteradmins also upload learning materials to ILIAS. This ensures a smooth learning experience.
