Step onto the grounds of the Friedrich-Ebert-Gymnasium. Feel the weight of history beneath your feet. This isn’t just any school. It’s a place steeped in tradition innovation and even rock and roll.

The Friedrich-Ebert-Gymnasium boasts a history stretching back to approximately 1628. Imagine a time of quill pens and Latin primers. This institution has witnessed centuries of learning and growth. It’s evolved from a Latin school into the modern gymnasium you see today.

But its past isn’t just about dusty textbooks. The school’s Friedrich-Ebert-Halle holds a special place in music history. In 1961 the Beatles recorded their first professional session there backing Tony Sheridan. Can you picture those young musicians in that very hall? Their raw energy reverberating through the walls?

In 1968 the school was renamed. It was formerly known as the Gymnasium für Jungen Harburg. This change honored Friedrich Ebert the first president of the Weimar Republic. The name reflects a commitment to civic engagement and democratic ideals. Values that are still important today.

The Friedrich-Ebert-Gymnasium offers a diverse range of educational paths. Students can choose from humanistic musical and MINT (Maths Information Technology Science Technics) sectors. There are also language exchanges with Great Britain Mexico Poland and the United States. Kirkwood High School in St Louis is a key partner school.

In grade eight students explore subjects like Greek Spanish dramatic play or a science-based IT practicum. The school publishes an annual report a colorful yearbook since 2006. It also once had a student newspaper called Der heiße FEGer. A fun wordplay on the school’s abbreviation. A satirical magazine called Quadratdampfer MS Kay Anker also enjoyed popularity.

The school underwent extensive renovations starting in 2009. A project aimed at creating a modern image for Ebert 2012. The new profile system was introduced in 2009-2010. This led to a double examination year. Five profiles are offered including linguistic musical history geographic-biologic and scientific options.

The Friedrich-Ebert-Gymnasium is more than bricks and mortar. It’s a vibrant community. It’s a place where history music and modern education converge. It’s a legacy of learning that continues to shape young lives. A legacy that you can feel today as you stand before this remarkable institution.
