Covenant Presbyterian Church

Why did Presbyterian Church of the Covenant choose such a unique name? Here, in front of Covenant Presbyterian Church in Denver Tech Center, that question hangs in the air. The story begins in 1964. The Presbytery of Denver had a vision and purchased ten acres of land on South Yosemite Street. The dream began to solidify in 1972. The first service echoed through Cherry Creek High School, not yet within these walls. By 1973, Presbyterian Church of the Covenant officially joined the Presbyterian Church (USA). But what about the name? “Covenant” isn’t just a catchy title. It speaks to the core of their belief. It represents the unwavering commitment between God and God’s people, a theme woven through scripture. This church recognizes this divine bond as a precious gift. They see it as the foundation of their understanding, inspiring them to love others as they have been loved. Look closely at their logo, you might notice the Star of David interwoven with the cross. This symbol, prominent in their stained-glass window, serves as a constant reminder of the Old Testament covenant. It’s a visual representation of the very essence of Covenant Presbyterian Church.
