Slipping through the South China Sea, a colossal vessel named “Tanghong Ship” embarked on a journey from Xiaomo Port. It carried thousands of BYD electric vehicles, destined for Brazil. Xiaomo Port, located in Shenzhen’s Shenshan Special Cooperation Zone, has become a bustling hub of international trade. In early 2024, Xiaomo Port saw a surge in exports. The “Explorer No. 1” initiated the “Xiaomo Port-Europe” route, followed by the “Xiaomo Port-South America” route. These new routes, among six total at Xiaomo Port, solidify its growing influence in the global market. Xiaomo Port is more than just a port; it’s the “East Wing” of Shenzhen Port’s ambitious “One Core, Three Wings” plan. Boasting the highest berth grade for multi-purpose public terminals in eastern Guangdong, Xiaomo Port is equipped to handle large-scale shipping operations. Its Phase I includes two berths for 100,000-tonnage vessels and another for 50,000-tonnage vessels, all with international clearance. This makes Xiaomo Port a first-class open port in China. Xiaomo Port’s infrastructure is constantly evolving. The breakwater project and the automobile roll-on/roll-off terminal began construction in early 2024. The Shenzhen-Hong Kong expressway, a crucial link for port industries, is scheduled for completion by the end of April 2024. These improvements aim to attract new energy vehicle companies to the Shenshan Special Cooperation Zone. Xiaomo Port’s future is bright. Officials predict 70,000 to 100,000 vehicles will be exported through Xiaomo Port in 2024 alone. By 2025, they estimate over 100,000 vehicles, and by 2030, a staggering one million vehicles. Xiaomo Port stands as a testament to Shenzhen’s growth and ambition on the world stage.
