Colin McNeil Plaque

Tragedy struck the Ramapo College community in 2012. We stand before the Colin McNeil Plaque, a memorial to a life cut short too soon. Colin McNeill, a vibrant 22-year-old from Little Falls, New Jersey, tragically passed away from a skateboarding accident. This plaque serves as a reminder of his contributions to the college and the community. Colin was a dedicated student-athlete, pursuing a degree in social science with a minor in law and society. He balanced his studies with running his own landscaping business and volunteering at the Little Falls Fire Department. At Ramapo, Colin was a prominent figure. He served as president of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and even donned the costume of “Rocky” the Roadrunner at college events. He was also a member of the Bass Fishing Club. Colin’s true passion, however, was volleyball. He captained the team for two seasons, playing in 99 games and racking up over 525 kills. His dedication and sportsmanship earned him the coach’s award in 2010. He was also recognized for his academic achievements with an honorable mention on the Athletic Director’s All-Academic Team in 2009. The Colin McNeil Plaque stands as a testament to a young man who embraced life fully, contributing to his college, his community, and his team. He is remembered not only for his athletic achievements, but for his leadership, service, and the indelible mark he left on those who knew him. “Truly great friends are hard to find, difficult to leave, and impossible to forget,” the inscription reads. A fitting tribute to a young man whose memory lives on.
