Initially, the plan was for a 185-meter, 50-story building. Architect Christoph Mäckler revised the design, increasing the height to 200 meters. The name, however, stuck. Tower 185 opened its doors in December 2011. The primary tenant is PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) Germany, occupying a significant portion of the building’s 100,500 square meters of floor space. PwC leases 60,000 square meters for their German headquarters. Interestingly, Tower 185 was considered as a potential location for the European Union’s Anti-Money Laundering Authority (AMLA) in 2023. The building features a unique design with a horseshoe-shaped podium and two skyscraper halves clad in aluminum and glass. A central glass rotunda brings natural light into the office spaces.
