The story of Sekolah Kebangsaan Seksyen 6 Kota Damansara began in mid-2000. Tn Hj Mohamad b Hj Ibrahim was the first Guru Besar or headmaster. He had two Penolong Kanan or assistant headmasters. One managed student affairs. The other managed co-curricular activities. In the beginning there were only 315 students. They were in Years 1 to 5. Only seven classes were open. The following year the school had its first UPSR exam candidates.
In 2017 SKS6KD hosted a community entrepreneurship carnival. It was organized by the Parent-Teacher Association PIBG. About 5000 people visited the school. They participated in various activities. They got information from private and government agencies. There were 45 food stalls and 65 exhibition stalls. Visitors could even get health checkups. Celebrities like Kefli AF3 Fadzli Farest and Mia Sara were also present.
Sekolah Kebangsaan Seksyen 6 Kota Damansara has achieved several milestones. In 2019 it was selected as one of five pilot schools. These schools were part of a grassroots program. This program was under the Selangor Football Association. In 2020 the school excelled in sports. It won first place in the U12 netball competition.
