Founded in 1923 Cannon Street Baptist Church stands as a testament to faith and community. It was one of ten original churches forming the Charleston County Missionary Baptist Association. It updated its constitution several times. This included amending it to establish the position of Vice Moderator. This was after a leadership dilemma following Reverend Ravenell’s death. Changes in church registration and voting delegation were also made over time. The association actively promotes ministers’ training and focuses on economic development and education. It maintains strong ties with Morris and Benedict Colleges.
