Why do they call it Tohumlar Mahallesi? The name, meaning “Seed Neighborhood”, might seem unusual at first. We are standing here, right on the edge of Tohumlar Mahallesi in Ankara’s Çankaya district. This isn’t a place known for its sprawling fields or bustling markets overflowing with fresh produce. You might even say it’s a hidden gem. Tohumlar Mahallesi has seen its population fluctuate over the years. In 2023, 346 residents called this neighborhood home. This close-knit community is a blend of long-time residents and newcomers, drawn together in this unique corner of Ankara. But Tohumlar Mahallesi holds a quiet charm, whispering stories of its past. Once a village under the administration of Bala, it transitioned to become part of Karaali. Finally, in 2009, Tohumlar Mahallesi found its current home within Çankaya. This quiet neighborhood offers a glimpse into the ever-evolving urban tapestry of Ankara.
