In 1984, the doors of “Centro Evangelistico El Buen Samaritano” opened. Brother Jorge Alvarado led with the support of Templo Magdiel. They started with empty hands. But they had hearts full of faith and love for souls.
In 1988, Pastor Abel A. Peña Jr. arrived with his wife Ophelia Peña and their children. Soon, the church’s name changed to “Templo el Buen Samaritano.” With God’s help, the church grew. Expansion projects took place. The church moved twice due to this growth. This was in 1999 and 2012. Today, it is known as “Templo El Buen Samaritano of Houston A/D”.
Templo El Buen Samaritano Asamblea de Dios serves the Houston community. It encourages others through a life-changing Christian journey. They seek to serve God. They work for justice and peace. They respect all faith traditions. They desire to be known for their love.

The church first resided at 1703 Jacqueline St. in 1985. It stayed there until 1999. Then, it moved to 1845 Silber Road. This location served them until 2012. Now, Templo El Buen Samaritano is located at 6640 Long Point Rd.
