Under the shadow of towering trees lies Xã Sông Trầu. This is not just any village. It’s a place steeped in history a living testament to Vietnam’s past.
Xã Sông Trầu sits in the heart of Trảng Bom District Dong Nai Province. Its history stretches back to the Nguyen Dynasty. Then it was part of Đồng Thành Precinct Phước Thành District Biên Hòa Province. Imagine the lives lived here centuries ago. The land itself has witnessed significant changes over the centuries.
During French colonial rule Sông Trầu became incorporated into Bình Trước Precinct Vĩnh Thuận District Châu Thành District. The borders shifted. The village identity remained strong. The people of Sông Trầu endured. They lived through war and peace. They adapted to changing times. Their resilience is a mark of their spirit.
In 1957 the South Vietnamese government established Trảng Bom District. Xã Sông Trầu was part of Vĩnh Thuận District Châu Thành District. In 1963 Châu Thành became Đức Tu District. Sông Trầu remained. In 1976 Trảng Bom was split into two. Xã Sông Trầu continued to be a part of the Trảng Bom we know today.
A major turning point came in 1994. Trảng Bom 1 split into two administrative units. One became Trảng Bom Town and the other Xã Sông Trầu. This marked a new chapter in its existence. A chapter of separate identity and autonomy. It was recognised as an independent administrative area.
The area of Xã Sông Trầu is approximately 42.76 square kilometers. In 1999 its population was 11.353. That’s a population density of 266 people per square kilometer. Imagine the bustling life within this small area.
On May 27 2019 a significant decree was passed. The decree recognised Trảng Bom town and parts of surrounding areas as a Type IV urban area. Xã Sông Trầu was among the areas included. This recognition brought about significant changes. It brought development and progress.
Today Xã Sông Trầu is divided into eight hamlets. Each hamlet has its own unique character. Each plays its part in the village’s tapestry. It is a quiet reminder of its rich history. It shows its significance in the region. It is a place with a unique identity. Its people continue to shape its future. Its future is interwoven with the fabric of Vietnam. Its future is bright.
