In 2013, Nespereira and Casais embarked on a shared journey. These two formerly distinct parishes, Nespereira and Casais, merged to become the União das Freguesias de Nespereira e Casais. This union, part of the Lousada municipality, created a larger community with a combined area of 4.67 square kilometers.
