Journey back to 2013. Two villages, Creixomil and Mariz, existed separately within the municipality of Barcelos. Then, a transformation occurred. These two distinct communities merged, creating the unified civil parish of Creixomil e Mariz. Creixomil now stands as part of this larger entity, a testament to the ever-evolving tapestry of Portuguese history. This union resulted in a combined area of 6.98 square kilometers. Imagine the bustling activity as these two communities integrated, their stories intertwining to form a new chapter. The 2011 census recorded a population of 1,208 individuals across both original villages, offering a glimpse into the scale of this community before the merger. Creixomil, now a vital part of Creixomil e Mariz, continues to thrive within the vibrant region of Norte, Portugal. Its location within the Cávado intermunicipal community and Braga district further cements its place in the intricate network of Portuguese geography.
