And so St Henry’s Academy was born in 1893. This was under the watchful eye of Reverend Henry Pefferkorn from St Joseph’s Catholic Church. Years passed. The German community of St Joseph’s needed more space. That’s when St Henry Catholic Church opened its doors in 1904. Reverend Henry M Wirtz became its first pastor.
