“Home of the Dons” echoes in the halls of Sierra Vista High School. This comprehensive high school opened its doors in 1961. Sierra Vista High School is located in Baldwin Park, California. It stands as one of three high schools in the Baldwin Park Unified School District.
Sierra Vista High School’s mission is clear. It aims to provide a 21st-century education. This education emphasizes critical thinking and communication. Respect for diversity is also key. The school fosters a safe and positive environment. Collaborative community involvement supports this. The goal is to create successful college-prepared and career-ready citizens.
The school’s colors are red, black, and white. The mascot is the Don. The Dons compete in the Montview League for most sports. Top sports include wrestling and baseball. In 2012-2013, Sierra Vista High School saw a new addition. A three-story building was completed. It opened for classes. Later, in 2017, H. Vincent Pratt became the interim principal.

Commercial Art and Photography are also available. Students can explore Ceramics and Sculpture. Digital Art and Video provide modern creative avenues. Technology and Video/Web design are popular. Javascript web/game design offers coding skills. Avid Senior Seminar prepares students for college. Architectural Design is available as well.
Advanced Placement classes are abundant at Sierra Vista High School. AP Art History and AP Calculus are offered. AP Biology and AP Computer Science Principles are available. AP Drawing and AP English courses challenge students. AP Physics and AP Psychology are popular choices. Students can study AP Spanish Language and Literature. AP Studio Art 2D and 3D are options for artists. AP U.S. Government and Politics is available. AP U.S. History and AP Chemistry are offered too.
Language classes include Spanish and Mandarin. Native Spanish courses are also provided.
Several notable alumni have walked the halls of Sierra Vista High School. Keith Closs played in the NBA for the Los Angeles Clippers. Carlos Ochoa played for the Mexican National Soccer Team. RiceGum is a celebrity YouTuber known for his Diss Tracks.
