Adopted into a wealthy household Ngo Thi Ngoc Dao’s life took an unexpected turn. At the tender age of 14 she entered the royal court. She quickly captured the heart of King Le Thai Tong. She rose through the ranks becoming his trusted advisor.
Years passed. She bore King Le Thai Tong a son who later ascended the throne as King Le Thanh Tong. Ngo Thi Ngoc Dao was elevated to the position of Hoàng Thái Hậu Royal Grand Empress Dowager. Her influence on the court was immense. Her wisdom shaped the reigns of multiple kings.
She dedicated herself to religious practice. She actively promoted Buddhism and Confucianism. She became a figure revered for her devotion.
Her death at the age of 75 brought immense grief to King Le Thanh Tong. He posthumously bestowed upon her the title of Quang Thuc Hoang Thai Hau. Further titles recognizing her piety and virtues were added. Her memory continues to be honored within the Đình Đền Trung Tả.
