“Harmony makes small things grow lack of it makes big things decay.” This quote from 1668 perfectly encapsulates the spirit of Cascina Ca’ Nova. It’s more than just a winery it’s a testament to family dreams. This enchanting place is nestled in the hills of Novara.
Cascina Ca’ Nova is a story of love for the land. It began in 1995 when Vittorio and his daughter discovered a hidden gem. Just a short distance from home there was an oasis of nature and rural history. They envisioned a winery that respected the environment.
The first task was renovating the 1700s farmhouse. Today it houses the winery aging cellar offices and tasting areas. Next they planted nine hectares of vineyards. Their dream was coming to life. Sadly Vittorio passed away in 2018. His daughter and family continue his practices with pride.
The vineyards of Cascina Ca’ Nova benefit from a unique geological history. Remnants of the Ice Age and ancient rocks from the Supervolcano of Valsesia enrich the soil. This tapestry of diverse soils gives the Nebbiolo grapes their distinct minerality. The Mediterranean climate and Monte Rosa’s imposing presence create the perfect environment for wine.
Cascina Ca’ Nova wines reflect a deep connection to the environment. They avoid chemical weed killers. They use fertilizers based on microelements. Green manure provides natural nutrients to the soil. Copper products are used extensively.
The first vineyard was planted in 1996 around Cascina Ca’ Nova. It included Nebbiolo and Erbaluce grapes. In 2000 the San Quirico vineyard was reborn. It had been reclaimed by the forest. Fourteen farmers entrusted their land and historical memory to the family. This is where San Quirico is produced. It is one of their most prized wines because of its pronounced minerality.
The Cascina Ca’ Nova cellar reflects the owners philosophy. It blends technology with tradition. Refrigerated stainless steel tanks stand alongside large oak barrels and French oak barriques. Bottling occurs twice a year for around 45000 bottles. The wines are stored in steel racks.
Cascina Ca’ Nova also offers a delightful guesthouse. It provides a comfortable stay with mini apartments for visitors wanting to explore the region. Each apartment has a kitchenette and a welcome breakfast kit.
Cascina Ca’ Nova is more than just a winery. It is a place where dreams take root. It’s a celebration of family tradition and environmental stewardship. Be sure to taste the dream in every glass.
