Established on January 1 2006 SK Sentul Utama initially shared a building. It was with Sekolah Kebangsaan Sri Dhandayuthapani. This was about six kilometers from Kuala Lumpur’s city center. Imagine 26 pioneer students. They filled the first classes from Year 1 to Year 5. There was no Year 6 for UPSR exams in 2006. There were also no preschool or PPKI classes. This was despite having teachers trained in those areas. Fourteen teachers including the first headmistress Cik Hajjah Jamaliah binti Jamil started SK Sentul Utama.

On March 27 2007 SK Sentul Utama moved to its own premises. Enrollment increased to 150 students then to 180 by 2008. Low enrollment was despite the central location. The school’s location on Jalan Ipoh was busy especially during peak hours. The building was far from residential areas. Several other primary schools were nearby within one kilometer. These included Sekolah Kebangsaan Sri Dandayuthapani Sekolah Kebangsaan La Salle (1) and (2) Sekolah Kebangsaan (Lelaki) Methodist Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan (Tamil) Thamboosamy and Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan (Cina) Sentul.

Puan Tuan Kamariah binti Nik Sin became headmistress on July 1 2009. This lasted until 2014. Enrollment rose to 341 students with 35 teachers. Six PPKI classes opened. These housed 45 students with various learning disabilities. Most teachers had diverse experience. They held qualifications ranging from diplomas to first degrees. Most SK Sentul Utama students came from middle-income families. In 2017 SK Sentul Utama joined the School Transformation 2025 program. Puan Wan Nor Azida binti Wan Zainal led the school until her retirement in 2021. Encik Roslan bin Jais also served as headmaster from 2015 to 2017. Currently the school has 41 teachers and seven PPKI classes. Mr Aidil Azahar bin Ahmad became the fifth headmaster on September 13 2021. SK Sentul Utama’s motto is Berusaha Bersemangat Waja striving with spirited courage. The school’s vision is to be a leading school producing outstanding generations.
