Established in 1981, Yanyuan Subdistrict takes its name from its proximity to the renowned Peking University, once called Yanjing University. Yanyuan is more than just a subdistrict. It’s a vibrant tapestry woven with threads of history, academia, and community. Located in the Haidian District of Beijing, Yanyuan sits near Peking University. In 2020, nearly 30,000 people called Yanyuan home. The subdistrict encompasses a modest 2.1 square kilometers. Yanyuan is governed jointly by the Haidian District Government and Peking University, a unique partnership reflecting the area’s deep academic roots. Yanyuan isn’t just a name on a map. It is a living testament to the enduring legacy of learning and community. The seven residential communities within Yanyuan–Chengzeyuan, Changchunyuan, Weixiuyuan, Xiaonei, Zhongguanyuan, Yandongyuan, and Yanbeiyuan–each contribute to the area’s rich tapestry of life.
