Founded in 1941 Saint Sebastian’s School stands as a testament to Cardinal William O’Connell’s vision. He envisioned a school that nurtured mind body and soul. This wasn’t just academics. It was a holistic education. Located initially in Newton the school later moved to its current 26-acre campus in Needham Massachusetts.

Saint Sebastian’s wasn’t named haphazardly. It honors Saint Sebastian the martyred soldier-saint. This reflects the school’s emphasis on courage integrity and faith. The original faculty included seven priests. This further emphasizes the strong spiritual foundation. Over time the school transitioned to a lay faculty. This shift is a fascinating part of the school’s evolution.

Today Saint Sebastian’s boasts an impressive campus. Seven major buildings stand proudly. These include an academic building a church a science math and library center. There’s also an art and academic center an administration building a hockey rink and a gymnasium. Students benefit from state-of-the-art facilities. This includes a recently enhanced 32000 square-foot Science Math and Library Center. Eight science labs eight math classrooms and three computer rooms are located within. The library expansion enhances learning resources.

Academics at Saint Sebastian’s are rigorous. The average class size is a mere 10 students. This ensures personalized attention. Twenty-one Advanced Placement courses are available. Freshmen take a required daily writing course in addition to traditional English. Each student delivers a chapel speech showcasing their public speaking skills.

The school’s athletic program is equally impressive. Thirteen interscholastic sports are offered. These include traditional and less common options. This ensures participation across all skill levels. Saint Sebastian’s competes in the Independent School League. This provides a competitive yet supportive environment.

Saint Sebastian’s School isn’t just about academics and athletics. Over 30 student-run clubs and activities thrive. These provide opportunities for leadership development. The school’s dedication to its students is evident in its extensive financial aid program. This ensures accessibility to deserving students. The school’s commitment to its founding principles remains strong. Saint Sebastian’s continues to be a beacon of educational excellence. It’s a place where young men develop into well-rounded individuals. They are prepared for success in college and beyond.
