Let’s step back in time. In 1375, Diedersdorf was first mentioned as Dyderickstorp. Fast forward to 1798-1800. Ernst Friedrich Wilhelm von Bandemer built the present manor house. It was built on older foundations.
Throughout the centuries, Schloss Diedersdorf has seen many owners. The von Bandemer family, the von Thümen family, and even the city of Berlin. Each left their mark on this historic estate.
Picture this. It is 1848. Marie Friederike Caroline Henriette von Bandemer inherits the estate. Later in 1854, Marie Friederike Caroline Henriette von Bandemer dies unmarried. She directs that the estate be converted into a foundation. It was to support unmarried daughters of officers over 40 years old.
In 1901, Berlin acquired the estate. The goal was to expand the Berlin sewage farms. From 1919 to 1933, Dr. Heinrich Ruths lived in the manor house. He was the director of the Berlin city estates.
After the Berlin Wall fell, Thomas Worm bought the dilapidated estate in 1990. He transformed the garden behind the house into a beer garden. In 1999, restoration of the Schloss Diedersdorf was completed. Eight suites were now available to guests.
