The Milan Council Housing and Planning Department, a bustling hub of activity, sits at the heart of Milan’s urban development. In the early 2000s, Milan experienced a boom in population growth, with over 700,000 new residents flooding the city. This growth, fueled largely by students and international migrants, brought with it the challenge of finding affordable housing. The Milan Council Housing and Planning Department stood ready to help, tackling a housing crisis that threatened to push many residents, including students, out of the city. The department is now dedicated to ensuring that a diverse range of homes are available to those who need them, tackling the city’s housing crisis through smart planning and innovative solutions. While Milan Council Housing and Planning Department addresses acute housing needs, the department also plays a vital role in shaping the city’s landscape, ensuring that Milan grows sustainably, inclusive, and vibrant for generations to come. Standing here today, you can feel Milan’s commitment to building a future where housing is affordable, accessible, and a fundamental right for everyone.
