Between the Adda River and the Muzza Canal lies Cavenago d’Adda. A charming comune in Lombardy its history stretches back to Roman times. Imagine life here then. Cavenago d’Adda was under the Lodi bishop’s rule in the 10th century. Later it became a fiefdom for powerful families like the Fissiraga. The Bocconi and the Cavenaghi Clerici also held sway.

The Napoleonic era brought change. Cavenago d’Adda was briefly joined with Robecco. It regained independence after the Kingdom of Lombardy-Venetia formed. In 1863 it officially became Cavenago d’Adda. This distinguished it from another Cavenago in Brianza.

Cavenago d’Adda grew. In 1869 it absorbed Caviaga and Soltarico. Post-World War II a significant event occurred. AGIP discovered substantial natural gas reserves in Caviaga. This discovery transformed the local economy.
