Barlanark Greyfriars Church of Scotland isn’t just a building. It’s a living testament to the enduring spirit of its congregation. It’s a place where people come together to worship. In 2004 the church celebrated its golden jubilee. That year many events marked this milestone. A family ceilidh and fireworks display kicked off the celebrations. A special family service followed. There was an adult dinner dance. A family Christmas ceilidh kept the festive spirit alive. A display showcased the history of the church and its various organizations. Even a community bowls tournament added to the fun. The jubilee also saw improvements to the kitchen. The church now hosts a weekly drop-in cafe. Disabled access was also improved. They added new toilets. An open-air Songs of Praise service and an Alpha course completed the year’s activities.
