Designed in 1995 by Coelacanth K&H Architects, Kaihin-Utase Elementary School stands as a testament to innovative design. Here at Kaihin-Utase Elementary School, we uncover a story of architectural ingenuity. The school’s design, a brainchild of Coelacanth K&H Architects, was completed in 1995. Kaihin-Utase Elementary School isn’t just a place of learning. It’s a piece of art. The original building, designed by Coelacanth K&H Architects, graced Chiba’s landscape in 1995. Later, in 2006, the school underwent a transformation. This renovation, also overseen by Coelacanth architects (this time with Kazuhiro Kojima and Kazuko Akamatsu at the helm), resulted in a two-story structure. The new Kaihin-Utase Elementary School boasts a blend of reinforced concrete and steel construction. It covers a sprawling total floor area of 9,205.35 square meters. The school has received several awards for its design. These include the Cultural Prize of Architecture, Chiba Pref. (2007), the Design Award from the Association for Children’s Environment (2007), and the Prize for Excellent Architecture, Chiba-City (2007). It was even selected among the Architectural Design works of the Architectural Institute of Japan in 2008. Imagine children’s laughter echoing through these halls, a testament to the school’s enduring legacy. Kaihin-Utase Elementary School stands as a vibrant hub, nurturing young minds within its award-winning walls.
