“The most exciting project of my life” said Jay Sarno. He was one of the original owners of Circus Circus Las Vegas. Right now we are standing in front of the Circus Circus Las Vegas Manor Motor Lodge. It is a half-block from the main hotel. Let me tell you its story.
Circus Circus Las Vegas Manor Motor Lodge offers a unique experience. It is separate from the main casino. It is still very much a part of Circus Circus. The Manor Motor Lodge is adjacent to the main Circus Circus complex. It provides a quieter more relaxed stay.
The Manor Motor Lodge has five three-story buildings. These buildings offer convenient self-parking. You do not have to walk far to your room. Forget long treks through a casino.
The rooms are decorated in desert-sunset tones. They feature updated furnishings. Each room has a flat-screen TV. Wi-Fi internet access is available. Guests can choose a King Double King or Double Queen bed. These rooms offer comfortable lodging.
Circus Circus itself opened on October 18 1968. It quickly became known for its circus theme. It was among the first family-oriented casinos in Las Vegas. Circus acts and carnival games entertained guests of all ages.
Jay Sarno envisioned a circus-themed casino. This was quite different from his previous project Caesars Palace. He wanted to create something exciting and new. The opening of Circus Circus was a major event. Government officials and film stars attended.
However Circus Circus struggled financially early on. The lack of a hotel hurt its business. People were skeptical of the circus theme. Gamblers were distracted by the circus acts. A 15-story tower was added in 1972 to address this.
William Bennett and William Pennington leased the casino in 1974. They turned Circus Circus into a profitable venture. They focused on slot machines and middle-class appeal. The Manor Motor Lodge opened in 1980. It added 810 rooms to the resort.
Over the years Circus Circus expanded. The Adventuredome indoor amusement park was added in 1993. More hotel towers were built. The Circus Sky Shuttle monorail connected the main resort to the Manor Motor Lodge rooms.
MGM Mirage bought Circus Circus in 2005. They planned to renovate and expand it. However those plans were canceled due to the Great Recession. In 2019 Phil Ruffin bought Circus Circus. He began a renovation project.
Today Circus Circus Las Vegas Manor Motor Lodge continues to welcome guests. It offers affordable lodging near the Las Vegas Strip. It is a testament to the enduring appeal of Circus Circus. It is part of a resort that has entertained families for decades. The Manor Motor Lodge provides a comfortable place to rest. It allows you to experience the magic of Circus Circus. A desert sunset-toned room awaits you.
