The Monumento a los Oceanos, located on Avenida Santander, reflects Cartagena’s deep maritime heritage. Two rectangular slabs, adorned with vibrant mosaic tiles, cradle a bronze sphere representing Earth. This symbolizes the oceans’ crucial role in our planet’s life. A walkway stretches 35 meters out to sea, culminating in a viewing platform. From here, you can admire the vast expanse of blue that has shaped Cartagena’s identity. Look for the pavement stone decorated with a compass rose, a tribute to navigation. Nearby, a plaque honors Gabriel García Márquez’s “Story of a Shipwrecked Sailor”.
