The Little White Chapel was established in 1954. Arvid and Neva Barnhart were its founders. Charolette Richards bought the chapel in 1981. She entered the wedding business through her marriage to Merle Richards. Merle owned Little Church of the West. Together, Merle and Charolette Richards opened Algiers’ Little Church of the West in 1968. Charolette then ventured out on her own with the Little White Chapel after their divorce.

Charolette Richards sold the chapel in 2022. Cliff Evarts and Melody Willis-Williams were the buyers.

Frank Sinatra, Judy Garland and Mickey Rooney all had ceremonies at the Little White Chapel. Michael Jordan, Dame Joan Collins, Britney Spears, Bruce Willis and Demi Moore also got married here.

The chapel has appeared in TV shows such as WWE Raw and Friends. It was also on Supernatural and Good Morning America.

A Little White Chapel may marry the most people in the city. Since opening, they have married about 800,000 couples. The chapel employs ten ministers.

One of its most unique features is the Tunnel of Vows Drive-thru window. Drive right up with no waiting. Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward were married here.
