SK Tiara Permai

Did you know that SK Tiara Permai almost didn’t exist? Right here, where this vibrant school stands, once lay an abandoned building. It sat empty for seven long years. Originally intended as a “sekolah wawasan,” a vision school, construction halted due to an economic downturn. Imagine SK Tiara Permai as a ghost of what could have been. Then, in 2008, it was revived. The dilapidated structure underwent extensive renovations. Nearly RM 7.5 million brought life back into the building. This allowed SK Tiara Permai to finally open its doors to students on January 3rd, 2008. The first day saw just 141 students and a small staff of nine. The headmistress, Datin Noor Asiah Bt. Md. Baki, led the charge. Even the name, SK Tiara Permai, reflects a rebirth. Initially called SK Batu Permai, it was renamed at the suggestion of Datin Noor Asiah. The name acknowledges its location near Taman Mastiara and Batu Permai. Think of the “tiara” as a crown, signifying the school’s newfound purpose. Today, SK Tiara Permai boasts a modern facility. It houses 30 classrooms, a staff room, a transit room for teachers, specialized rooms, a canteen, a field, paved roads, and parking. This is a far cry from the abandoned shell it once was. In the early days, even the field was unusable due to flooding. This issue was eventually resolved with additional soil and grass planting. The school quickly grew. By 2009, enrollment increased to 197 students, and a KAFA class (Islamic religious education) was introduced. A covered assembly area, Anjung Permai, was also built. This provided shade for students during assemblies and outdoor activities. That same year, the first cohort of students sat for the UPSR exam. The results were impressive. Four out of 23 students achieved straight As, and the overall pass rate was 100%, except for English. From abandoned building to thriving school, SK Tiara Permai is a testament to resilience and community spirit.
