This magnificent hall is part of the larger Ezekiel W Cullen Building. It was named to honor Ezekiel W Cullen a former congressman for the Republic of Texas. His grandson Hugh Roy Cullen was the main donor to the project.

The hall’s original capacity was 1680. It was designed by Houston architect Alfred C Finn. Finn aimed for a classical look using long wings and regularly spaced pilasters. The building’s classical design isn’t obvious at first glance. But the careful placement of architectural features enhances its beauty.

In 1988 the facility underwent extensive renovations. The current seating capacity is 1544. The Cullen Performance Hall continues to thrive.
