Once, Casaletto Lodigiano was just a whisper on the wind. Now it stands as a testament to time. We are standing in front of Casaletto Lodigiano.

Casaletto Lodigiano sits in Lombardy. It is a municipality in the province of Lodi. Milan lies about 20 kilometres northwest. Lodi is about 13 kilometres to the east.

Imagine life here centuries ago. Casaletto Lodigiano belonged to the Masserati family. Later, it was owned by the Counts Lurani.

During Napoleon’s time from 1809 to 1816 Casaletto Lodigiano was part of Salerano. It regained its independence with the creation of the Kingdom of Lombardy-Venetia. To avoid confusion with other places, Casaletto was renamed Casaletto Lodigiano in 1863.

In 1870, Gugnano and Villarossa joined Casaletto Lodigiano. Since the 1970s, the area has grown a lot especially in Mairano.

The coat of arms of Casaletto Lodigiano has interesting symbols. It features a gold area with a red cross. Another section shows a blue band. A gold lion wearing an antique crown crosses it. The flag has red, blue and yellow stripes. These symbols were officially adopted in 1952.

The churches in Casaletto, Gugnano, and Mairano showcase local art. Agriculture drives the local economy. Farmers produce corn, wheat and animal feed. Many also raise dairy cattle. Small businesses operate in manufacturing and mining. Despite this, many residents commute to work elsewhere.

Nathalie Sitzia has been the mayor since 2019. Previously, Giorgio Marazzina served multiple terms. Mairano once had a tram stop. It connected Melegnano and Sant’Angelo Lodigiano. The tram operated from 1881 to 1931.

Today, Casaletto Lodigiano continues to evolve. It balances its agricultural roots with modern life. The community preserves its history while looking to the future. As of November 2024, about 2985 people call Casaletto Lodigiano home. This makes it a vibrant part of the Lodi province.
