“What would it be like to attend a lecture here?” That’s what many students must think as they approach the Mithat Çoruh Audatorium and Classrooms. Today I’ll tell you its story.
The Mithat Çoruh Audatorium and Classrooms is more than just a building. It is located on the campus of Bilkent University in Ankara. This is a place where ideas converge and knowledge is shared.
The audatorium is named after Prof. Mithat Çoruh. He was a former rector of Bilkent University. He also served as president of the Başkent University Board of Trustees. His contributions to education are honored here. Prof. Mithat Çoruh passed away on February 19 2023. The Bilkent community deeply mourned his loss.
The Mithat Çoruh Audatorium hosts various important events. One notable event is the annual commemoration of Atatürk. Atatürk was the founder of the Republic of Turkey. The ceremony begins with a moment of silence at the Bilkent Atatürk Monument. It then continues inside the Mithat Çoruh Auditorioum.
During the Ataturk commemoration, various presentations enrich the event. One year, Lalin Yüksel from the Department of Economics presented. Her presentation was titled “A Witness to the Republic as a News Cameraman: Photo Cemal Işıksel.” Prof. Dr. Özer Ergenç also spoke about “Atatürk and the Environment He Grew Up.” These presentations offer insightful perspectives on Ataturk’s life and legacy.
The audatorium also reflects Bilkent University’s vibrant community. Students faculty and staff gather here. They attend lectures, ceremonies, and other academic events. The Mithat Çoruh Audatorium and Classrooms provide a space for intellectual engagement.
The building itself is known as EB Building too. It offers internet access via WLAN for students. Access is free. This allows students to stay connected and enhances their learning experience.
