“Astonishing” is the word that springs to mind when you first see the Zhuhai-Macao Passenger Inspection Hall. This massive structure is a critical part of the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge. It ensures the safe and efficient passage of countless travelers every day.
The Zhuhai-Macao Passenger Inspection Hall stands as a testament to modern engineering and design. It reflects the collaborative spirit of the region. Opened in 2018 the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge itself is an incredible feat. It spans 55 kilometers connecting Hong Kong and Macao with Zhuhai.

The bridge tour has welcomed more than 100000 visitors since its trial operation on December 15 2023. Visitors may even encounter Chinese white dolphins. These are known as the giant pandas of the sea.

Its undulating modular roof and glazed curtain walls allow natural light and fresh air to flood the building. The building even generates much of its own energy and water.
Safety is paramount within the Zhuhai-Macao Passenger Inspection Hall. The building is equipped with an advanced smoke control system. Almost 2000 smoke vents are integrated into the design. These vents are divided into three smoke zones. In case of a fire the system automatically opens the vents. This releases smoke and heat keeping escape routes clear. Each smoke vent is operated by two SE Controls pneumatic fail-safe actuators. These actuators ensure the vents open even if there is a power or system failure.
The Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge has greatly reduced travel times. What once took four hours is now a mere 30-minute drive. The Zhuhai Port has seen impressive traffic. Daily passenger flows exceeded 100000 on 50 days in 2024. This is a tenfold increase from 2023. On January 31 2025 the port set a new record of 156000 passenger trips.
