Stepping onto the grounds of Maranatha World Revival Church, one can almost feel the energy of its nearly 7,000 members. This place, nestled in Rancho Bernardo, San Diego, isn’t just a building. It’s a testament to a journey of faith, growth, and unwavering dedication to the Great Commandment and the Great Commission. Maranatha World Revival Church began as a humble Bible study group of 30 people led by Pastor Ray Bentley in 1984. They met in a simple recreation center. Within months, this small group outgrew the space and began holding Sunday services at a local junior high school. By 1986, attendance exploded to over 1,100, requiring multiple services to accommodate the growing congregation. Maranatha World Revival Church dedicated its first building in Rancho Peñasquitos in 1990. This marked a significant milestone in their journey. Even with multiple Sunday services, including a “Sunday morning” service on Saturday nights, the church continued to expand, reaching over 3,000 attendees. Driven by the need for even more space, Maranatha World Revival Church embarked on another chapter in 1996. They broke ground on their current 15-acre site in Rancho Bernardo. The new facility, completed in 1997, features a 3,000-seat sanctuary, Sunday school buildings, and even a bookstore and cafe. Maranatha World Revival Church is more than just a place of worship. It’s a vibrant community committed to “loving God, loving people.” Their services offer a casual atmosphere, beginning with worship and followed by Bible studies led by Pastor Daniel Bentley. The church’s influence extends beyond its walls. Maranatha Christian Schools, located nearby, serves students from kindergarten through 12th grade, carrying forth the church’s mission of transforming lives.
