The China National Academy of Painting Museum, formerly known as the National Academy of Chinese Painting, was established in 1981. Its creation was driven by the vision of leading figures within the State Council and the CPC Central Committee. The academy aimed to be a hub for artistic creation, research, education, collection, public outreach, and cultural exchange. Its first president was the renowned Chinese painting master, Li Keran. He, along with Cai Ruohong, Ye Qianyu, and Huang Zhou, formed the academy’s initial leadership. The China National Academy of Painting Museum has undergone a fascinating evolution. It started as the Chinese Painting Creation Team in 1977 under the Ministry of Culture. It transitioned to the National Academy of Chinese Painting in 1981 with expanded roles.
