One day, Thien Hau sensed her father and brothers were in danger at sea. While weaving fabric, her spirit went forth to save them. She rescued two brothers, but her father was lost to the waves. Her bravery earned her devotion from fishermen who sought her protection.
In the 17th century, the Thien Hau Temple was built to worship Thien Hau Thanh Mau. Long Thiền Tự has since been vital to Saigon’s Chinese community. Its cultural significance is clear in the sculptures, artifacts, and historical relics within its walls.
