Legend whispers of a sacred cow. Kamadhenu they called her. She poured her milk onto the Marudeeswarar Temple’s Sivalingam. That’s why the deity is also known as Palvannanathar. White as milk. Palvannam in Tamil.

Welcome to the Marudeeswarar Temple in Thiruvanmiyur Chennai. This isn’t just any temple. It’s one of 275 Paadal Petra Sthalams. That means two revered Nayanar saints Appar and Tirugnana Sambandar sang its praises. Their verses echo through the centuries. They glorified this place in the 7th century.
