Did Korea National University of Arts always grace Seokgwan-dong? No. Its journey began in Jangchung-dong, within the walls of the former National High School of Korean Traditional Music. Picture Seoul in 1992. The Korea National University of Arts, or K-Arts as it’s affectionately known, was taking its first breaths. Offices were set up, a flurry of activity anticipating the grand opening in 1993. This wasn’t just any university. It was the nation’s sole national arts university, a beacon envisioned by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism.
