Its strategic location reflects the foresight of its founder, Tsukamoto Soyama. The building’s early years coincided with a period of significant development in Chiba. The relocation of Chiba Station in 1963 spurred the creation of Chiba Station’s main street. This connected the station to the city’s central shopping district, further solidifying the Tsukamoto Grand Chiba Building’s importance. Interestingly, at the time of its construction, the Tsukamoto Grand Chiba Building was one of the few high-rise buildings in Chiba. It truly stood out. Tsukamoto Grand Chiba Building boasts nine floors above ground and three below. Its vast floor space accommodates a variety of tenants, from banks and restaurants to offices and cultural centers. Initially, the building housed the Sogou Chiba department store. It later transitioned into a multi-tenant office building, adapting to the changing needs of the city. The building has even been home to a post office branch, underscoring its integral role in the community. Today, you’ll find the Tsukamoto Grand Chiba Building at 2-3-1 Fujimi, Chuo Ward, Chiba City. A mere three-minute walk from Chiba Station, it’s easily accessible and impossible to miss. A fun fact: the building’s name is sometimes displayed as “TSUKAMOTO DAICHIBA BLDG.” on its facade, a small quirk that adds to its character. Over the years, Tsukamoto Grand Chiba Building has seen neighbors come and go. Tsukamoto Chiba Building No. 2, once connected to the main building by an underpass, has been demolished. A new high-rise building, the Brillia Tower Chiba, is now being constructed on that site. The presence of major banks like MUFG Bank and Tokyo Star Bank in the Tsukamoto Grand Chiba Building highlight its continued relevance as a financial center.
