In 1597, the “Junge Hohe Birke” mine received its first mining license. This happened in the Münzbach valley. The mine experienced its most successful period in the 18th century. The Danieler Huthaus is the only remaining structure from that time. It reminds us of the mine’s prosperity.

J. Fr. Mende, a mining expert, built a water wheel here in 1788. It was used for both art and powering machinery. The wheelhouse and the shaft building formed an impressive unit. You can still see a dam made of broken stones in the area. This dam once directed water to the wheels.

In 1870, steam replaced the water wheels. The mine reached a depth of 400 meters. It employed 270 workers. By 1893, the mine had reached 564 meters. Despite available ore, it was shut down. It was completely dismantled.

The Danieler Huthaus has seen many changes since then. In 1998, it was converted into a guesthouse. Later, it stood empty. René Leist took over the Danieler Huthaus. He had it extensively restored. It became a unique place for events, meetings, and work.

Today, the Danieler Huthaus retains its historical charm. The impressive oven and distinctive chimney remain. They define the building’s special character. These features offer a glimpse into its past. They blend seamlessly with its modern function.
