Did you know Dubai Municipality is older than the UAE itself? It was established in 1954. Dubai Municipality has grown from humble beginnings to a massive organization.

We are standing before a key part of Dubai’s infrastructure. This is the Municipality Office. It is central to the city’s operations. The Dubai Municipality oversees many city functions. These include waste management and public health. It also handles planning and construction.

Back in 1954, the Crown Prince of Dubai founded Dubai Municipality. That was Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum. In its first years, Dubai Municipality had only seven employees. Today it has over 13000. These dedicated people work across various departments.

In 1957, a pivotal decree formalized the municipality’s structure. It comprised 23 appointed traders and elders. They oversaw urban planning and development. This was a foundational step for Dubai Municipality’s future role.

The Dubai Municipality gained independent authority in 1961. This allowed it to create policies autonomously. It could address the needs of the growing city.

Dubai Municipality launched an e-government project in 2001. This initiative put 40 city services online. Now, it offers over 150 services through its web portal. You can access services related to food safety and waste management online. You can access services for business and recreation online too.

Consider Dubai Municipality’s scope today. It manages 14 functional areas. It handles over 800 daily operations. The municipality delivers services through two sectors and four agencies. It has 37 departments.

The Planning and Governance Sector is crucial. So is the Corporate Support Service Sector. The Waste and Sewerage Agency keeps the city clean. The Public Facilities Agency maintains parks and beaches. The Environment, Health & Safety Agency protects residents. The Buildings Regulations & Permits Agency oversees construction.

Dubai Municipality manages many public places. It oversees markets like the Dubai Center Fruit and Vegetable Market. It preserves heritage sites like Hatta Heritage Village. The municipality maintains parks. Safa Park and Zabeel Park are examples. It also manages beaches like Jumeirah Beach.

The Dubai Municipality ensures the safety and comfort of all residents. The municipality has received international recognition. This includes the UN Public Services Award.

Several Dubai Municipality centers serve the public. Al Manara Center provides administrative services. Al Twar Center offers community services. Al Kifaf Center is near the Al Jafiliya Metro Station. The Hatta Center serves the Hatta community.

The Dubai Municipality also operates recycling centers. These centers manage 18 types of materials. This includes paper, plastic, and metal. These centers use solar energy and LED lighting.

To contact Dubai Municipality, you can call +971 4 221 5555. The call center number is 800900. You can visit their website. It is www.dm.gov.ae. You can also contact them through social media.

Dubai Municipality’s commitment to sustainability is evident. It celebrated World Migratory Birds Day. The theme was “Birds Connect Our World”. The Dubai Municipality enhances Dubai’s beauty, sustainability, and livability.
