After years of advocacy and planning, construction finally started in 1941. Interestingly, as part of the “Schools of Tomorrow” refurbishment, Wynnum State High School incorporated names from local history into its buildings. That’s how the hall got its theatrical name – a nod to Wynnum’s own Imperial Theatre. The school’s motto, “We’re Wynnum, We’re Proud,” reflects the strong sense of community here.
