The B\u1ec7nh vi\u1ec7n B\u1ec7nh Nhi\u1ec7t \u0111\u1edbi Trung \u01b0\u01a1ng stands as a leading specialist hospital. It excels in treating infectious and tropical diseases. This hospital is under the Ministry of Health. Its English name is National Hospital of Tropical Diseases or NHTD.

It started as the Institute of Clinical Medicine for Tropical Diseases. This institute was under B\u1ec7nh vi\u1ec7n B\u1ea1ch Mai. It merged the Department of Infectious Diseases, the Department of Medical Microbiology and the Department of Infectious Diseases of Hanoi Medical University.
The B\u1ec7nh vi\u1ec7n B\u1ec7nh Nhi\u1ec7t \u0111\u1edbi Trung \u01b0\u01a1ng gained prominence in 2003. It successfully treated and contained SARS. The state recognized this achievement. It awarded the title “Labor Hero”.
Today the B\u1ec7nh vi\u1ec7n B\u1ec7nh Nhi\u1ec7t \u0111\u1edbi Trung \u01b0\u01a1ng has 280 beds. It employs 282 staff members. Eight Hanoi Medical University staff members also work there regularly.
